7:00 AM Not one for early mornings, but once I’m awake I’m excited to crack into the day – starting by listening to the Financial Times News Briefing podcast as I prepare to head into the office. We have a fully hybrid working policy, but I like to go into the office. We have a really great space down in Southwark and it’s great to be able to spend time with and learn from the team.
8:00 AM Catching the bus gives me a chance to scan the news for any articles relevant to my clients. I’m looking for reactive comment opportunities, general FYIs or topics that might inform future pitching or influence any ongoing activity. I also get to soak in some city views as the bus crosses London Bridge!
8:30 AM After grabbing a coffee from Pret (how good is the subscription) I make it into the office ready for our morning editorial meeting where we share news insights and intel. I find it super motivating to start the day collaborating with the team.
10:00 AM My emails are organised, Slacks are responded to and I’m all prepped for an in-person client meeting. The client is visiting our office this time round. These meetings not only provide valuable face-to-face strategising but also an opportunity to catch up with and enjoy the company of our lovely clients.
12:00 PM Now I’m off with a colleague to a journalist lunch meeting at Covent Garden. We take the chance to grab some fresh air, opting to walk from our office in Southwark. Over lunch, we discuss upcoming articles, share some information about our clients and gather general intel on the publication and how our clients can support them.
2:00 PM I’m back at the office and cracking into some account admin – fueled by a Diet Coke of course. I’m pulling together notes from the journalist meeting, actions from the client meeting, and feeding into a coverage report for a press release that went out earlier.
4:00 PM Time to brush up on my LinkedIn knowledge! Now the US team is online, we have a company-wide Zoom learning session on how to optimise LinkedIn for executive comms. I make sure to package up some notes for a client who is looking to further develop their exec comms.
6:00 PM It’s always nice to unwind with the team after a busy day, so as we all begin to wrap up we decide to head to the pub. A chilled ending to a busy, productive day!
