Now that futures are available for Bitcoin, I’d like tips from financial advisors, academics and experts in Bitcoin and futures trading on the pros and cons of speculating through futures rather than trading bitcoin itself. Do the futures markets offer any benefits over a bitcoin trading platform? Speed, volume and liquidity, perhaps? Generally, what do you see as the pros and cons of futures over an underlying commodity or currency? Are any of these plusses and minuses different for bitcoin? How will the futures and regular bitcoin exchanges affect one another? What type of investor is the ideal candidate for bitcoin futures, and who should stay away? Is there any reason to get into bitcoin futures if one is not already experienced in futures trading? Should bitcoin futures be reserved for hedging only? You get the picture — anything that an investor should know to decide whether to try trading bitcoin futures. I’m eager for answers to questions I haven’t asked here. Requirements: I prefer responses by email containing usable content and quotes, and because I usually get plenty I rarely respond to ones merely offering a source for interview. Please include the source’s contact info, full name, title, firm and location.
