Bank trends involving customer lending

I’m writing an article for Bank Administration Institute and am looking to hear what banks are doing these days to make it easier to lend money to consumers (both in speed and making things easier – i.e., less paperwork, less hoops to jump through). Very happy to hear from banks but also anyone who works in the banking industry – or academics, consultants or industry insiders who follow the banking industry. Looking to hear what trends (again, with making consumer lending easier) are out there, and what are non-banks doing that are leaving banks in the dust.
