I’m writing an article for “U.S. News & World Report” about juggling multiple credit cards (and applying for more) about some of the best practices to follow. After all, if you’re going to have several credit cards and add more, to get rewards points and transfer money to a card with a lower interest rate, you want to do it in a way that things don’t blow up in your face, where you’re deep in debt or paying a ton of fees. So I’m looking for credit card and personal finance experts and wondering what you suggest to consumers who want to take advantage of the perks that can come from having multiple credit cards without things going badly. I’d also be interested to hear from experts who can offer thoughts on how many credit cards is too many? At what point should you close accounts, even if that does hurt your credit score?
