College Students and Credit Cards

Reporter: Louis DeNicola

I’m looking for current information on how credit card issuers market to college students and how college students use credit cards. If you have any recent studies/polls with relevant information I’d love to see it. I’m also looking for some input from area experts. -How did the CARD Act change things (are students still offered free “gifts” for signing up for a credit card, how do they prove income eligibility)? -How do school/issuer agreements work (when the school helps sponsor accounts or makes a deal with the issuer)? -Do you have any advice for college students who have their first credit card? If you have any post-2010 anecdotes that could liven up the article please feel free to respond as well. Requirements: Professional expertise related to college students and credit cards. Personal experience using or signing up for a credit card while you were in school (post-2010).
