What are the Options When a Credit Union the NCUA Puts a Credit Union in Conservatorship?

Several NYC credit unions are struggling due to their loan exposure to taxi medallions. Two big ones have been put in conservatorship this year: https://www.ncua.gov/newsroom/Pages/news-2017-june-lomto-federal-credit-union-conserved.aspx https://www.ncua.gov/newsroom/Pages/news-2017-feb-melrose-credit-union-conserved.aspx and this one in 2015 https://www.ncua.gov/newsroom/Pages/NW20150918Montauk.aspx I am looking for updated info on these credit unions and about Melrose especially. it-union-taxi-medallion-troubles And more generally, I want to hear from financial experts, what are some possible outcomes of a NCUA conservatorship: 1) merged into another credit union 2) restore credit union to be able to stand on its own 3) liquidation What are the pros and cons of each of these, also, is there any other option you would list, if so, what are the pros of cons as well. Send me your thoughts.
